Overview
A resident's free movement in a facility makes it difficult for care providers to locate them. Using conventional methods of care may take care providers several minutes or more to:
- Identify situations where care is required
- Locate resident within the facility
IndeCare provides a solution to this dilemma as illustrated below.
Walkthrough
Mrs. Smith wakes up at 1 am to go to the bathroom. The bathroom floor is wet and she slips and bumps her head on the sink. Hurt and disoriented she is unable to get up or call for assistance or use her personal emergency response device.
Conventional care protocols may not lead to discovery of Mrs. Smith’s predicament until her next routine room check the following morning or possibly even later when staff or other residents notice she isn’t around.
In a facility equipped with IndeCare, Mrs. Smith’s activity would be tracked showing she had gotten up in the middle of the night and spent an overly long time in the bathroom. This would trigger the need for a caregiver to do a manual check on her. The alert would remain active until assistance has been provided and a resolution logged in the system.
